Boat Mapper Information and Instructions
The Interactive Boat Mapper has many features that end-users may be unaware of. Please be patient while the tiles and vessel data load onto the map. It is important to note that if you are using a slow network connection, you may want to use the Quick View section of the site. There are three sections of the mapper that have significant functionality:
Boat Control Panel (upper left hand corner of map)
Map Control Panel (upper right hand corner of map)
Legend & Layers (lower right hand corner of map)
- Boat Control Panel
The end-user can pick and choose which boat(s) he or she wants to view. For example, a specific class can be filtered out of the entire fleet and shown, or the end-user may want to see their favorite boat(s) by selecting which boat(s) they wish to track and clicking on the "just My Boats" button.
- Map Control Panel
The end-user has the option of which level of Zoom to view the race (zoom levels from 1x to 20x). They can view the start line or the finish line by clicking on the "GoTo Start Line" link and the "GoTo Finish Line" link. The time control box allows the end-user to "replay" the race from the start time/location up to the most recent position. In order to do so, he or she should click on the link labeled "GoTo Start Time" (this brings all boats from the current position to the start position). After all boats have moved back to the start line, the end-user can click the right arrow button to animate the race.
- Legends & Layers
The race committee chooses which layers they want us to provide on the mapper. Typically, there are two layers and can be "turned on" and "turned off" by checking or un-checking the layer the end-user wishes to view. Layers include, but aren't limited to: Surface Winds, Sea Surface Temperatures, and Nautical Charts.
- Additional Information
All boxes can be hidden by clicking the "hide" link located within each box. By "mousing over" each dot on the map, a boat information box will pop up containing all information about that individual vessel. Latitude and Longitude of the mouse can be viewed in the lower left hand corner of the map.

Quick View Information and Instructions
The Quick View section of the race website is a low bandwidth download of all boat data mapped into one "quick" snapshot of the race. Here the end-user has only the following options:
- View by location of the race (Start Line, Leg 1, Leg 2, Finish Line).
- View only a specific class/section (filters out an individual class from entire fleet).
- Weather Overlays -- quick snapshot of current sea surface temperatures or Surface Winds (similar to Boat Mapper overlays).
- Movie Mode -- by clicking ENTER under movie mode, the race will replay from the start line through the most recent position as an animated .gif file.
At the top of the Quick View page, there will be additional links to race-related information (i.e. -- official results, etc.).

Leader Board Information and Instructions
The Leader Board section of the race website is an area where each boat's data is organized into a "first place to last place" list. This list can be viewed by boat name, class position, or overall position. It is important to note that these times are unofficial. Each section of the leader board is explained below:
- Boat -- Here, if an end-user "scrolls over" a particular boat name, the vessel's information pops up along with a photo. The end-user can then click on the boat name and an individual track-map along with raw data will open up in a new browser page. Raw data is also available for download in this screen by clicking the link at the top labeled "Follow this link to download complete data". The raw data will then be shown in a .txt format.
- Class Pos./Overall Pos. -- Shows each boat's position in their class (or section) relative to their overall position throughout the entire fleet.
- Class -- (or section) Shows which class or section each boat belongs to.
- Last Reading...Time/Position...Speed/Dist. To Finish -- Contains information regarding each boat's last recorded signal, the time of that signal, the Lat/Long position of that signal, their interpolated speed, and their estimated distance to the finish line. Please note that all of this information is based on the most recent signal that the tracker sent.
- Finish Time actual (or estimated) -- This column shows each boat's estimated finish time while the race is in progress (based on past signals). When the race is complete, a race committee member has the option of entering official finish times into this column giving the "actual" finish time.
- Corrected Finish Time -- This column shows each boat's estimated finish time with PHRF or IRC ratings applied while the race is in progress. When the race is finished, the actual corrected time will be calculated when the race committee member enters the official finish times.

The Fleet Information and Instructions
This section of the race website contains fleet information as well as each vessel.s photo (provided by each racer). By clicking on the photo of a particular vessel, a larger image of the vessel will open up in another browser page.
